Which Social Media platform works best for your business?

Which Social Media platform works best for your business?

With likes of TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube all offering huge audiences to connect, how do you know which one is best for your business? Here are a few tips on how to get the most out of your social media platforms to help you produce better results.

Speak to your clients

The easiest place to start is with your customers – get in touch with previous customers to see what social media platforms work best for them. Your service will appeal to a certain demographic which is a trend you should already be aware of. If not, look back at the type of people you have worked with to understand the age, location, job and financial status groups they belong to. You will see common trends across these groups and also in the social media platforms they engage with which can help you become more targeted with your advertising.

Be active and remain personable

To gain any sort of traction on social media – be it more followers or business – you need to be active and engaged. That doesn’t have to mean you push the hard sell about your business as this will likely scare people off. Instead, take a personable approach and offer bits of advice – show you are human and that you want to help first, rather than simply wanting to secure money for your business. Companies that show they care are not only likely to win more business, but also inspire loyalty and recommendations of your services to others.

Be consistent

Have faith in the new methods you try out and give them time to work. It will take more than a few days to see results so lower expectations and take a long-term view. Give it a 3-month window before reviewing your strategy to see what has and hasn’t work. It may just require a tweak or two to become successful instead of simply dumping the idea completely and starting from scratch with something else. On average, customers will want to see content from a business 21 times before they make a purchase. If you are not posting regularly, you can sure a competitor will be and are more likely to win customers from your demographic as a result.

Develop brand awareness

Some platforms are a natural fit for certain professions. For example, the work of designers and architects are perfect for Instagram. But some people have to be more creative than others. Plumbers filling their pages with pipes and hardware won’t appeal to many. However, you can still develop your brand using Stories to keep people updated, making it more personable and add personality to your brand. This sort of thinking outside of the box can make you stand out against competitors.
