Scope and contextWebshape Design is a small web design and development agency. We have no manufacturing, no vehicle fleet and no owned premises. Our significant environmental impacts are concentrated in three areas: the serviced office space we occupy, the cloud infrastructure hosting the websites we build, and equipment purchasing and business travel.
Our significant impacts and how we manage them
1. Office energy, waste and materials. We operate from a Fora serviced workspace, part of The Office Group, and rely on their building management for energy procurement, heating, cooling and waste. Their 2025 Impact Report records: 100% renewable electricity procured across the portfolio where Fora controls energy purchasing, saving 4,812 tonnes of carbon; zero waste to landfill for building operation waste; and an energy saving programme across eight buildings projected to save 388,000 kWh and avoid 90 tonnes of carbon annually. Their carbon emissions data has been independently verified by Planet Mark for six consecutive years. On circularity, Fora donated over 5,000 pieces of furniture and office items for reuse and recycled over 2.4 tonnes of electricals.
2. Hosting and digital infrastructure. All client websites and applications we manage are hosted with Krystal Hosting Ltd. Krystal’s data centres run on 100% renewable energy and the company is a certified B Corp. Its UK data centre operates at a Power Usage Effectiveness rating of 1.10, and as members of the SME Climate Hub it has committed to halve emissions by 2030 and reach net zero by 2050. We treat renewable-powered hosting as a default requirement, not an optional extra, when specifying infrastructure for new projects.
3. Equipment and travel. We extend hardware lifecycles rather than replacing on a fixed schedule, and default to remote meetings where an in-person visit is not necessary.
Monitoring and measurement
We currently monitor annual hosting spend and provider renewable-energy status, equipment purchases and disposals, and the published sustainability disclosures of our office and hosting providers. We will request our workspace carbon footprint data from Fora’s sustainability team and use it as our office energy baseline.
